The Six of Rods (wands or staffs)

In the upright position, the Six of Rods (a suit of spirituality, inspiration, intuition, ambition) signals a well-earned success is on its way or is already here based on your leadership. It’s important to announce, celebrate, and/or acknowledge (even if just to yourself) your achievement. Or, this card can also suggest it’s time for you to move forward with your passion—Rods are a fire suit, so it may be time to act without fear.

As I reflect on the Six of Rods (wands or staffs) card from the Morgan Greer Tarot deck, I see a character who is modest in expressing emotion regarding their success, yet absolutely and solidly confident in the achievement. The rod with the celebratory wreath is held in the left, non-dominant hand, meaning there’s no battle to wage here—victory has (or will, imminently) happen. The rods in the background sprout oak leaves, an ancient Celtic symbol of spirituality, indicating that the success was, is, and will continue to be Divinely inspired and supported. The horse the champion rides upon is white, a symbol of purity.

In reverse, this card can signal a fall from grace or favor, or possibly ego has taken over and the success is seen as purely individual and others’ support (including Divine) isn’t recognized.

If this card comes up in a spread with a reader, or as you read your own cards and you think you don’t have a success to celebrate, think again. Success isn’t always about greatness–it includes taking that small step you thought you never would or could. A big success is just a series of small successes, each of which deserve to be acknowledged!
